Standing Up

Ryleigh has physical therapy at home every Monday; mommy and daddy trade off every other week. Today was a pretty cool PT day.  Because she has little to no feeling and mobility below the knee, Ryleigh will always need some support to be able to bear weight on her legs. Gerti has been working on some removable leg casts to help support Ryleigh's legs so she can stand. Today we got to try them out for the first time!
Gerti brought her iPad so Ryleigh had something to play with while standing at the ottoman.
She acted like she just stands up all the time...no biggie.
For now she needs a little push back on her booty to let her know to keep her back straight. She did really great. She wasn't scared at all, which Gerti said a lot of kiddos are. And she was brave enough to hold on with one hand (or no hands) a couple times. We're looking forward to trying it out a few more times.

Yay! Go Ryleigh go!!

Eight Months Ago...

...a sweet little baby girl was born. I know I say it all the time, but cannot believe my little bug is growing so fast!

my very favorite baby blues in the world
She still doesn't have any teeth, but I think we'll be seeing the bottom two soon. She's rolling. She is learning to sit up on her own, she does really well with the back support Gerti made her. And can usually sit by herself until she gets too excited.

kick it up. she loves grabbing her toes (and occasionally chewing on them)

me and my big girl this morning

i had to throw this one in too.
singing in her new stroller last night. she's a very serious singer.
Now can someone please slow time down? Just a little?

Photo a Day Again?

So I'm thinking about doing the May photo a day challenge. I really enjoyed March and kind of missed doing it in April. Hmmmm, can't quite decide.

Our Weekend

This weekend we participated in the Tim Heinz 5K put on by the Law School. Notice I said participated, not ran. We did jog a little bit, but mostly just walked. It was a chilly, but nice morning.

Ryleigh doesn't look very amused, but she had a good time. She was a little tired by this point.

I also started work on hanging a little photo collage on our living room wall. Here's a little preview:

Looks pretty awesome, right? ...Just you wait.

Our little wild child is about to wear her mama out. She is one busy little bee. She doesn't really want to sit and play with her toys. She wants to be up and held and walked around. And when you are holding her and walking around, she wants to reach for everything and lunge out of your arms to grab a passing cat or a toy or anything that might be good to put in her mouth. And she wants to pull on your clothes or your hair or whatever she can wrap her sticky little fingers around. She was so full of energy yesterday afternoon and evening! I haven't posted a video in a while, so here is just a little sample of what we had on our hands. And this is after she calmed down a bit once the camera came out...

Can you believe she's such a big girl? I certainly can't.

Sometimes It's the Little Things

Oh yeah!! I just scored 173 points in Words With Friends and it totally made my day. So much so that I had to blog about it.
Happy Friday! Have a great weekend everyone!

A Persistent Little Visitor

Wednesday when I came home from work there was a robin hanging around out in our backyard. Then he started coming over and landing on the screen to one of the sunroom windows. A little while later, he stared flying into the glass of one of the windows. Over and over again, until it got dark. Then, much to our surprise, the little guy showed back up the next morning and continued his relentless pursuit of bursting through the window. Jasper seemed to enjoy the show. And when he was sitting on the window ledge, the bird stayed safely atop the fence. As soon as the cat was gone, he started up again.
I snapped a couple pics:

Scoping things out, getting ready for take-off.

Um, I guess at least he's not flying into the window head first.

Jasper found a good vantage point just inside the house with a perfect view of the sunroom. You can see our little friend flying over from the fence in the top of this pic.
Then he must've had his fill or realized he was not making any progress and he was gone... for a few days. Then what do you know, when I went home for lunch today the little bugger was back! Flying into the window, with a big juicy worm hanging out of his mouth beak. WTH, little robin?!? It's not happenin, buddy. Maybe you should find a new hobby.

Not too sure about eating this green stuff. Aren't you supposed to mash it up or something, mommy?

Weekend Getaway

I meant to post about our little weekend trip yesterday, but I didn't get a chance. Close to two years ago I won a prize drawing for an overnight stay at a B&B in Hermann, MO. The prize package also included 6 - $30 gift certificates to the wineries on the Hermann Wine Trail. Score, right!?!? I was super stoked when I won and wanted to plan a trip back ASAP. Then I got pregnant...and nine months or so later, I had a baby...then we were busy being mommy and daddy. Well, short story long, we finally decided to use the gift certificates and go. We had a great time! It was our second trip to Hermann, but won't be our last.
First, a couple Friday photos:

Daycare was closed Friday so I had to spend my day with this. Too bad. ;-)
Freddie has tasty antennae.

Saturday we headed to Hermann.
Just our luck:
Friday weather = beautiful
Saturday weather = overcast with occasional sprinkles.
Sunday weather = beautiful

Beautiful view of the Missouri River from OakGlenn Winery

Daddy's too cool. Believe it or not, he wasn't posing for this photo. He was just standing there and I just had to take a pic.
Outside at Hermannhof Winery.

Best pastry chef in Hermann, eh? Hermann, Mo? Population 2,341? Quite impressive, my friend.

Chillin with daddy on Sunday morning.

The B&B we stayed at was awesome. We brought our little sidekick. Since it is really set up for a romantic weekend getaway, they don't serve breakfast until 9 am. Our 7 month-old gets up around 6:30 am and we were wondering what the hell we'd do for those hours. Answer: play on the floor, drink coffee, watch MSNBC. Pretty typical Sunday morning actually.

Not to over do it, but just a few more photos from our little trip:

Photo of a baby in a mirror in a mirror...so artistic. Can't remember if this was before or after daddy got a speeding ticket.
Enjoying the outdoors at Oak Glenn.
She was so happy to just hang out (and sing) all day.

Happiest. Kid. Ever.
The deck on our suite.
Little fingers helping mommy take a picture.
Saturday view from the deck - a little overcast.
Sunday morning view from the deck - that's a little more like it
Perfect size for two adults... + one infant who does not want to sleep in a pack-n-play.

"What? Nah, I didn't keep you guys up all night."

Close Up

Total cuteness.

We've got a pretty fun weekend ahead. Starting with me being off work today. Daycare is closed so I have to stay home with my girl. So sad about that. Have a great weekend!!

We Survived

Wow! Intense may be kind of an understatement. The way he was acting you'd think Ron Rowe was playing or coaching in UK's national championship game Monday night. I think maybe he's a little more happy & relaxed today.

No people, animals or furniture were harmed in the process of Kentucky winning the national championship. However, our red chair was put in timeout on the porch for the duration of the final four game against Louisville."We just can't have a red chair in the house when we're playing Louisville."

He was excited to recieve an Anthony Davis poster from Kelly's dad, Sam.

I do know one thing, we have the CUTEST little UK cheerleader around.

We had a little iPhone photo session. :-)
